I analysed ToG and found out more about the Valg The Valg themselves are barely described or appear in the ToG series Luckily, SJM gave some infos in the books although they aren't obvious sometimes But during my re-read of the series, I realized some impirtant aspects I now want to share with you
Why do people think the Asteri and Valg (TOG) are the same thing? Vesperus’ black blood and the Valg’s black blood the Asteri taking host bodies and feasting on magic is like the Valg Maybe not the same, but the chapters of Dorian describing his possession talks about the Valg consuming the magic in his veins And it’s also made clear they are most compatible with magical beings
THEORY: Who the Daglan really are, and who their leader was. The Valg = The Daglan = The Asteri However, to make this even more complex, I also believe that the Valg = Princes of Hel The Princes of Hel are also Valg There are many 'on the nose' references that connect the Valg and the Princes of Hel The Valg are demons The Princes are demons The Asteri describe the Hel realm as a "dark, cold world "

But I also think the Princes of Hel are included in this too They have many similarities to the Valg; they're both referred to as demons, both have shapeshifting and shadow powers, both dwell in a world of the cold and dark, and Apollion with his blond hair and black eyes is a near identical description of the Valg Princes (and Lanthys)
How exactly does the Valg possession work? : r throneofglassseries - Reddit Only valg princes can use the darkness magic and only beings with magic or apparently of a powerful bloodline (as in ToD) can actually hold a valg prince without withering away quickly I assumed since there were so many princes, they are essentially just the powerful nobility of the valg If that makes sense
