I analysed ToG and found out more about the Valg The Valg themselves are barely described or appear in the ToG series Luckily, SJM gave some infos in the books although they aren't obvious sometimes But during my re-read of the series, I realized some impirtant aspects I now want to share with you
Why do people think the Asteri and Valg (TOG) are the same thing? Vesperus’ black blood and the Valg’s black blood the Asteri taking host bodies and feasting on magic is like the Valg Maybe not the same, but the chapters of Dorian describing his possession talks about the Valg consuming the magic in his veins And it’s also made clear they are most compatible with magical beings
Daglan and death-god theory : r acotar - Reddit Agreed! But I also think the Princes of Hel are included in this too They have many similarities to the Valg; they're both referred to as demons, both have shapeshifting and shadow powers, both dwell in a world of the cold and dark, and Apollion with his blond hair and black eyes is a near identical description of the Valg Princes (and Lanthys)
Asteri, Valg Gods : r SarahJMaas - Reddit The Valg also cause headaches over the people they are in control of as well (watch out, Az) I think the Valg are from the Hel realm, but just like ACOTAR, CC, and TOG, there are different beings that live in each of these realms I assume it’s the same thing for Hel The princes of the seven layers could potentially be Valg
THEORY: Who the Daglan really are, and who their leader was. The Valg = The Daglan = The Asteri However, to make this even more complex, I also believe that the Valg = Princes of Hel The Princes of Hel are also Valg There are many 'on the nose' references that connect the Valg and the Princes of Hel The Valg are demons The Princes are demons The Asteri describe the Hel realm as a "dark, cold world "
How exactly does the Valg possession work? : r throneofglassseries - Reddit Only valg princes can use the darkness magic and only beings with magic or apparently of a powerful bloodline (as in ToD) can actually hold a valg prince without withering away quickly I assumed since there were so many princes, they are essentially just the powerful nobility of the valg If that makes sense
Rhysand, Nesta and the Valg : r acotar - Reddit Rhysand loves way too much to be Valg I don't think he tortures Tamlin, more like kicks him when he's down And then feels bad about how broken Tamlin is And several characters in TOG who are not Valg use torture as a means to an end, so I don't think Rhys sanctioning it would mean he's Valg
Thoughts about Valg : r acotar - Reddit Yeah Ruhn is definitely not evil 😌💜 ToG witches also had some Valg in them and they weren’t really evil either They could just have inherited some traits instead of having an actual Valg demon in them Rhys definitely could have stolen Feyre if he wanted to I had a crack theory about that even before reading ToG
Valg theory question - link between all series?? - Reddit So I'm on my TOG series reread and I just finished up heir of fire Maeve says there are different races of valg I thought this interesting So we don't know the asteris actual form and the valg went into different bodies We also know the valg fed on things like memories and fear
Maasverse - Hel, Valg, Asteri : r crescentcitysjm - Reddit Orcus is the most powerful Valg King but also another name for Orcus is Apollion Rhys described the Daglan as tall, with crowns atop their heads and in Tower of Dawn the Valg kings are described as tall, crowned dark figures I also read, the 3 Valg kings were standing atop a mountain “Built the gateway of black stone out of thin air
